DAMAGED INFRASTRUCTURE DUE TO FLOODS

During the rainy season roads in Jakarta are often badly damaged. some of the damaged roads in Pejompongan in central Jakarta and others in East Jakarta have resulted in several accidents. People have been complaning the uncompleted dug up road which has been open for two months along The Pejompongan road.

In central Jakarta some of the people in Pejompongan said that they often see motorcycle riders fall into the open pit and some car drivers ended up on the sidewalks because of the dug road. They often fall near the roundabout. In addition to the main road in Pejompongan, The Meruya street and areas in Grogol. In West Jakarta are also severely damaged during the rainy season.

When visiting a victim of floods at Jembatan Pelangi area in Kalibata Pasar Minggu Jakarta, Governor Fauzi Bowo said that all of the infrastructure and the damaged roads would be repaired after the rainy season was over. He added that to repair the damaged roads it would cost thirty four billion rupiah which has been set aside from the special fund for flood handling. People in areas frequently flooded have been practicing to take refuge when floods strike.
