UNITED KINGDOM WENGER AND BOCA CELEBRATION

From the world of sports Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says injured midfielder cesc fabregas is likely to be out for four months. Arsenal skiper and playmaker Cesc Fabregas will be out with a medial knee ligament injury for up to four months, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told reporters.

The 21-year-old Spaniard who was named Arsenal captain in place of William Gallas a month ago, was injured in 50-50 chalenge with Spanish team mate Xabi Alonso during Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and limped off at halftime.

The most open Premier League championship race for years reaches its halfway point on Boxing Day with five teams, including Arsenal, still battling for the title. But Wenger conceded the title is probably already beyond his team. Arsenal remain eight points leaders Liverpool and outsider to lift the crown for the first time since 2004.

And now we go to Argentina. Boca Juniors fans celebrated in the streets of Buenos Aires as their team won the Argentine Apertura championship, finishing top of a three-way play-off bya the slimmest of margins. Fans were forced to endure a tense game though as outsiders Tigre scored a first goal against the champions.

Tigre scored in the 68th minute after Boca goalkeeper Javier Garcia misjudged Matias Gimenez's long cross from the left and Leandro Lazzaro headed in the goal. Nevertheless, Boca took the title on goal difference and their fans went wild. Boca ended with a goal difference of one, with Tigre on zero and minus one for San Lorenzo, the third team in the play-offs.

Club followers flocked to Buenos Aires' obelisk to rejoice in the win, setting off fireworks and waving Boca flags. The win was Boca's first title in five championships, an unusually long time for a club who have traditionally dominated the domestic game alongside arch-rivals River. Their last success was the 2005/06 season's Clausura championship.
