NATURAL DISASTER AND SIMULATION TERRORISTS

The Central Java Police and the Regional Military Forces conducted a joint excercise to help them prepare for any act of terrorism in Semarang. For this excercise road access to the area of Simpang Lima was closed for the simulation of the terrorist attack.

In one of the scenes from the simulation terrorists were seen holding the people inside The Ciputra Hotel as hostages. The hostages situation was then reported to the head of the regional police. Action was then taken in coordination with the regional military forces to foil the terrorist attack.

The regional military hopes that future simulations will take place on working days and not in the holidays so that the simulation is as close to real as a terrorist attack. The head of The Central Java Police hope that equipment used to handle terrorist attacks will be upgraded.

Joint excercises between the Indonesian police and the military were also conducted in other regions through out Indonesia. And now the other news come from Jakarta.
The central government has asked governors and regents to be more serious and respond quickly to disasters so that victims of disasters can receive the help they need as quickly as possible.

At an event today in Jakarta Social Affairs Minister Bachtiar Chamsyah said that responding to natural disasters throughout the county could be carried out of quickly if regional governments work faster in responding to such disasters. He said that the distribution of aid to victims of disasters should no longer be a problem as aid such as food, tents, ambulances and rubber boats is already available in disaster prone areas.

Relating to the allocation for direct financial aid for 2009 that is only enough for two months. Minister Chamsyah said that he respects the decision of the government althoug he hope The House will allocate enough aid for 6 months.
